New Mommy Makeup Routine

Hey Ladies! This post is all about the makeup products I’ve been using as a new mom to help me get ready and look presentable, in no time at all. I wish I was the kinda girl that could leave the house with no makeup on, but I can’t. I’ve tried, and I just can’t. If I’m gonna be honest, I even wear makeup when I’m home with nowhere to go. In fact it’s rare that anyone will see me without makeup, even in yoga class (I know, I know!).

Having said all that, I literally have 4.5 minutes to get my makeup on these days before little Miss gets bored with her toys and needs my attention. So these products, some new and some I’ve used in the past, are quick, easy to use, and long wearing…because ain’t no mama got time for reapplying!!!

So, let’s talk about my new mommy makeup routine…

_mg_5688 Ok so the first product is of course base because I need me some good coverage! This Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue tinted hydrating cream is SO GOOD!. It’s got more coverage than your average tinted moisturizer, but still feels so light weight. You can apply it with just your fingertips or using a soft buffing brush, It’s that easy! The best part is it’s got an SPF 30. which means you can eliminate that step of your morning routine. There are so many shades to choose from so pretty much anyone can find their perfect match.

Let’s talk about eyes…this Kat Von D Tattoo Liner had been getting so many great reviews online that I just had to try it out. It literally stays in place ALL DAY LONG! No smudging, no running, and so easy to use. Side note: I can’t do a winged cat eye to save my life, but this product will work just fine for a regular line.

Next up is the Charlotte Tillbury Eyes to Mesmerize cream shadow in Marie Antoinette. I had been using this on and off for a little while, but once I became a mom this product moved up to my list of Holy Grail products. The colour is stunning and could work on anyone, and all it takes is a dab with your ring finger on your lids and you’re good to go! Couldn’t be easier or quicker! Which is exactly what I need these days!

_mg_5703Lastly, I need to talk about these new gel nailpolishes that are out. I swear I will never buy a regular nail polish again! They literally last all week long without chipping. This is a huge deal!!! As a new mom I am constantly washing my hands and let’s face it, I don’t have time to do my nails every two days, or the $$ to get them done professionally every week, so these polishes are a godsend! My favourite brand is the Gel Couture by Essie. With a beautiful range of colours and such sleek packaging, these are a total game changer!

_mg_5693Whether you’re a new mom with limited time, or are just looking for some quick products that will help you get ready in a hurry, I hope all enjoyed my “New Mom” favourite beauty products!

My Favorite Must-Have Pregnancy Products

I have to admit, I was #BLESSED with an amazing pregnancy!  Other than, (extreme!), fatigue during my first trimester, I pretty much sailed right through the 9 months. That being said, I did rely on a few essential items to help me along the way. Here is a round-up of my favorite must-have pregnancy products.

FullSizeRender

FullSizeRender2I have always loved the Honest products and their Face and Body Lotion is no exception. I would use this every night straight out of the shower concentrating mainly on my belly, hips and chest. Once the lotion was absorbed, I would apply a generous amount of Belly Jelly by Substance. This stretch mark cream is the bomb!!! I had tried many that were too greasy and would never fully absorb on my skin, or they were way to fragranced. This one is perfect, not too greasy, with just a light lavender scent…and best of all it’s all natural. I loved it so much that I had to get a travel size for my purse. Not sure if this is what prevented my stretch marks or not, but I’m sure it helped 😉

FullSizeRenderCan we talk about Saje Wellness for a minute?!? Where has this place been all my life?! I only discovered it near the end of my first trimester. I love going into their store and checking out all the oils (Liquid Sunshine is my favorite!) and the staff there are always so knowledgeable and helpful! My hubby picked up a couple of the Mother’s Wellness products and I used them throughout my pregnancy. The Stretch Mark Blend I actually used as a massage oil for those oh-so appreciated back rubs. The Soothing Blend roll-on has lavender and chamomile oil for relaxation and is perfect before bedtime. Dab a little, (or in my case, a ton!), on your temples, head, neck…and then drift off to sleep (Unfortunately, it doesn’t prevent you from waking up a dozen times in the night to use the bathroom!)

IMG_2496I received the Earth Mama Angel Baby Organic tea sampler in a gift basket from my sister-in-law, and since I couldn’t stomach the thought of coffee, I tried it out right away. There are 4 different tea samplers inside. My favorite was the Peaceful Mama tea which I would have in the evenings since it’s a blend of lemon and chamomile. Of course I also had the Third Trimester tea (raspberry leaf) during the last few days to help get this little one out! There’s also a Mama’s Tummy Tea for nausea, and a Mama’s Morning Tea for a quick pick-me-up. I ended up repurchasing a box of the Peaceful Mama tea and still use it now, postpartum.

4Last, but certainly not least, is my beloved Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil. I cannot rave enough about this stuff! It is literally my holy grail beauty product that I’ve used for years for my dry skin. During my pregnancy, my skin was super sensitive and I would regularly break out in hives. Every night I would use my argan oil and by morning the hives were gone, including any redness. I can’t say enough about this miracle oil, it literally does it all!

This concludes my favorite must have pregnancy products. Hope you enjoyed reading about them and will give them a try – pregnant or not!

Transitioning to Fall Makeup

This is the time of year I like to re-evaluate my makeup routine and make any necessary adjustments…ok who am I kidding, I really don’t need an excuse to buy new makeup. That being said, here are a few of my makeup must-haves for the Fall season…

_MG_4269First things first, I swapped out my summer foundation, Chanel’s Aqua VitaLumiere, and purchased the new Mac Studio Waterweight SPF30, (in NC30). I must admit I haven’t been a huge fan of Mac’s foundations in the past and probably haven’t purchased one since highschool…however I was pleasantly surprised by this new formulation! It claims to “softly blur imperfections such as pores and fine lines”. I would agree it leaves a beautiful airbrushed finish and is hydrating enough for dry skin types. It’s texture is weightless, yet buildable, and I’m loving the bottle dropper packaging. With an SPF of 30, this foundation has very quickly become a favourite that I may even wear throughout the summer months.

IMG_4277Next up is a couple eyeshadows from my go-to Bobbi Brown. Something about this colour combo, (Left) Rich Navy and (Right) Slate, I’m just loving! Pair it with Bobbi’s Smokey Eye Mascara and Anastasia’s Brow Whiz for a bold brow, and you’ve got an effortless smokey eye look for all the upcoming Holiday parties. (Yes, they are just around the corner!).

_MG_4289Lip colours should also change with the season. I like to update with a new bold and neutral. Mac’s Rebel (Left) is said to be the perfect shade for all skin tones according to beauty guru Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere, and Faux (Right) is a mauvy-pink neutral that’s also a favourite of trend-setter, Miss Kylie Jenner herself).

IMG_4275Lastly, you can’t forget about nails! These colours can easily pass as neutrals for Fall and have been long-time favourites of mine. (L-R, Sand Tropez, Mink Muffs and Case Study)

Hope you enjoyed my transitioning to Fall makeup routine. Stay tuned for an updated skincare routine coming soon!

XO, Amanda
